In celebration of the 50 Years of ASEAN, the ASEAN Forum and Networking Dinner is being organised by the Council for International Trade & Commerce SA in

association with its member ASEAN organisations, and with the generous support of the Department of State Development of the Government of South Australia, and other sponsors.

The ASEAN Business Forum will combine over 30 informative and engaging speakers, with time for industry colleagues to network and discuss trade and investment opportunities, culminating with a multicultural Networking Dinner.

The Australia ASEAN Business Forum brings together local, national and international leaders and experts and is a celebration of the 40th Year of Australia ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) relations. The Forum is being organised by the Council for International Trade & Commerce in association with its member ASEAN organisations and with the generous support of the Government of South Australia and other sponsors. The ASEAN grouping comprises ten countries of South East Asia with a combined population of 600 million people.

34 business people representing 26 companies from the naval industries in north of Spain, predominantly from the cities of Ferrol and Vigo in the Galicia region, visited Adelaide on for three days as part of a five day stay in Australia. This visit followed a personally delivered invitation to the Ferrol Chamber of Commerce and the Aclunaga Group from Mr Joaquin Artacho, the Honorary Consul for Spain in South Australia and former President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce when he undertook a private trip to Ferrol in Spain in March 2010. The intent of the delegation was to appreciate the importance of the naval auxiliary industry in Spain, particularly the incorporation of these companies with Spain’s main ship designer and builder, Navantia that have the contract to build the AWD in SA. The visiting delegates expressed their willingness to form joint venture relationships with SA companies and/or establish themselves as Australian companies to support Australia’s shipbuilding into the future.

5th Dan Soba Noodle expert Mr Yoshinobu Yamashita from Himeji, Japan was invited to Adelaide by

the Japan Australia Friendship Association for this years Golden Week Japan Festival in Adelaide.

Mr Yamashita demonstrated his skills at the Golden Week Japan Festival on May 2nd, at Cowandilla Primary School, organised by the Japan Australia Friendship Society (JAFA), 3000 people attended the Festival. Mr Yamashita is one of only eight 5th Dan Soba Noodle makers in Japan – the highest level

of expertise achievable. During his stay, Mr Yamashita provided a demonstration of Soba Noodle

making for 70 local students and business people, Wednesday May 5th in the cooking school at Regency campus of TAFE SA. CITCSA supported Mr Yamashita’s visit as part of the sister city relationships management for the City of Adelaide.
